We all know that post Christmas and New Year feeling. Ate too much, drank too much, and frankly, spent far too much time sat on the sofa watching all those Christmas films.
Its too cold and wet outside to consider going for that run, and the gym is bursting at the seams with good intentioned new year’ resolutions. No matter how hard you try to make your home and office a chocolate free zone, there’s always somebody sat at the desk in the corner unwrapping something that you know you want, but really shouldn’t indulge in.
Well, the team at Ultracomms decided to do something positive to banish the Christmas indulgence blues. Back in January, ten of the team, including CEO Derwyn Jones, jumped on the scales and set about working as together to lose the extra Christmas pounds.
Every Monday the ten dieters paid a £1 subscription to weigh in. The subscriptions were collected for donation to a charity of the ‘biggest losers’ choice at the end of the weight loss challenge.
In just 10 weeks the collective weight loss was a staggering 66.2lbs (4 and a half stones!). The winning loser (if that makes sense), an impressive 27.4lbs lighter than at the beginning of January was Infrastructure Engineer, Dan Jupp.
Dan chose to support Diabetes UK with a donation of £102 collected from the weekly weigh in subscriptions.
Dan said, “It was great to be the biggest loser! Working as a team really helped to keep my motivation levels up, and knowing that I’m not only fitter, but have been able to contribute to a charity that does outstanding work to help millions in the UK who suffer with diabetes and weight issues is a great feeling”.
